new toy

Mama got a new toy this week and I am LOVING it! I had been saving up to purchase the Canon 85mm 1.2 lens when my friend Madison sent me a link to look over regarding the comparison of that lens to the Sigma 85mm 1.4. I was intrigued but I have to admit that I was skeptical. I had rented the Canon 85mm 1.2 several times and it was my most favorite lens that I had ever shot with. I decided I was just going to get the Canon because I knew how much I loved it and then I kept hearing good reviews about the Sigma. The Sigma is less than HALF of the price of the Canon and some reviews were saying that it was a actually a better lens. I was going to rent it but said that if I hated it, I could just return it so, I bit the bullet and went for it.

I am SO glad that I did! I haven't gotten a chance to play with it too much but I did run outside for maybe 2 minutes with Keegan tonight and told him to blow some dandylions for me. Too bad he isn't wearing a more neutral shirt or this would be a great easter shot. Nope, he had to have on his bright red Harley shirt. His grandpas will be proud.

This is the shot with my new baby, Sigma. Shot at ISO 200, f 2.2 and shutter 1/320sec.

I kind of love it. It is so creamy and ooey gooey. I can't wait to do a real professional shoot with it!

This is just one of the many reasons it is so great to have friends in the photography community who are looking out for you. Thanks Mads, for saving me a bundle of moolah and recommending this awesome lens. ;)
